Over 65 leaders from Rotherham’s business community had a warm good morning welcome at The Wharncliffe Restaurant, served with a bacon, a great cup of coffee and news of two pioneering projects that really are embodying the essence of The Rotherham Story, ambitious and definitely Pushing Boundaries – one of the three threads that make Rotherham a great place to invest, do business, work, live and enjoy.
Ian Barnes from Wates Residential presented the details of a Cluster Site Model for Housing across the borough, this public-private partnership is the first of its kind in the UK and will not only go some way to meeting the differing housing and living needs for Rotherham people, it will also provide economic opportunity for local business, as Wates are keen to work with local companies.

Phil Sayles, Deputy Principle for The RNN Group proudly presented The University Campus Rotherham, already under construct and the presentation included a site visit to see the progress to date. The campus is due to open in September 2018, offering a wide range of courses to young people to ensure they get an opportunity to acquire high level technical skills, through to degree courses, and so meeting skill shortages projected by the local business community.
Simeon Leach, Economic Strategy & Partnerships Manager, presented The Great Update providing even more examples of the developments underway to improve the borough, support and provide local business opportunities.
