A further 430,500 sq ft of commercial space – the size of seven football pitches – can be created on the Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP) in Rotherham after plans were approved by the planning board at Rotherham Council.

Previously the site of the Orgreave coking works and opencast mining, the Waverley site is being developed by Harworth Group plc. The remaining areas have recently been restored and engineered to provide development platforms and the planing consent marks the beginning of the final phase of the original masterplan for the site, which has Enterprise Zone status.

Jane Beckett, senior planner at Barton Willmore, said: “With the existing success of on-site international manufacturers such as McLaren Automotive and Spendor Audio, this last phase of the Advanced Manufacturing Park marks another important step in the development becoming one a shining example of industry-led regeneration.”
